Venues and practicalities

Venue locations

All the venues are within walking distance of each other in Central London - see our map.

Entry to meetings

Possession of any Marxism ticket does not guarantee you entry to any particular event. To ensure admission to popular meetings, get to the rooms as early as possible. Due to the strict fire regulations we are unable to overfill rooms.

Tickets & box office

Bloomsbury Suite, 2nd floor, University of London Union (ULU)
A ticket office will be open during Marxism where tickets can be bought for the whole event and for individual days and sessions. You can also collect pre-paid tickets.

Ticket upgrades and Cultures of Resistance
You can upgrade your day or session ticket to a full ticket simply by paying the difference at the box office. You can also get tickets for the Cultures of Resistance gig on Monday night.

If you have any problems during Marxism 2010, please approach a member of the Marxism team – they can be identified by their distinctive T-shirts.

Accommodation office

To find out where you are staying and for all other accommodation queries, the office will be open at the following times:

Stalls

A number of exhibitors will have stalls in the Institute of Education students’ union, just outside Bookmarks bookshop.

Cafe: Open for breakfast 8-10am. For hot food 12 noon-2.30pm and 5-7.30pm

Bar: Thurs -Sat 12 noon-midnight, Sun 12 noon-10.30pm

Coffee Shop, Level 4: 8am-7.30pm

ULU Duck and Dive/Gallery Bar

Food: Thurs 12 noon-4pm, Fri & Sat 12 noon-7.30pm, Sun & Mon 12 noon-3pm

Bar: Thurs, Sat & Mon 12noon-10pm, Fri 12 noon-11pm, Sun closed

ULU Lunchbox cafe (ground floor)

Mon- Fri 8.30am-7pm, Sat 9am-5.30pm, Sun 9am-3pm

Meeting places

There are regional meeting places around the event where you can meet friends and comrades from particular areas, and where picnics will be held. London areas will meet in and around the Institute of Education students’ union, and other areas on the grass opposite the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Look out for posters or ask Marxism team members for help finding people.

Wheelchair access

All venues are wheelchair accessible.

Shisha cafe

In the evenings, after the final session, we will be running a shisha (water-pipe) café on the balcony of the Institute of Education. For a small cost you can come and smoke a variety of flavoured tobaccos. Please note, this is weather permitting.
